  • Ascent and descent 224 m
  • Time about 1 hour 50 min

percorso 3 neroThe route starts from the car park with 4 pine trees overlooking the badlands in via Rontana, about 1.9 km from the railway station. Turn left going down the road for 150 m. Turn left onto a vehicle track over grass for about 800 m and where it ends keep right on a level gravel track for another 800 m. Come to the paved road in Rio Chie turn left and continue for 1 km until a narrow road on private curve, always to the left. Climbed over the chain that borders the property up to the carriage that supports the vineyards (300 m), then turn on the narrow road to the left and continue to climb through the olive groves to Ca’di Vicchio (600 m). Continue along the crest of the badlands marked with CAI. 505 keep to the right (1400 m). In case of rain, this stretch is slippery. hen you reach a pond on the right continue on the same CAI path until the asphalt street Via Rontana and go left to the parking lot of the cave Tanaccia (600 m). Here enter the forest following the cave signs to a visitor centre (220 m). Guided visits to the cave are available on agreement with the park manager (Ivano Fabbri, T. +390546 80628/+39339 2407028).
Arriving at the house of the park turn left and follow a scenic grassy road to the forest and olive trees for 450 m, then meet again the paved road. Take the asphalt turning left to reach after 400 meters the parking lot of 4 pines. You can connect the itinerary 2 with 3, where the downhill path of the 2 encounters via Rontana. There you can  cross the road and reach the parking lot of 4 pines from in which the itinerary 3 starts (2 + 3 = 8.84 km).
